The
North East’s style and listings magazine The Crack commissioned
24 artists to produce an
‘Artvert’. In
each
issue
of The Crack magazine, the artists’ Artvert is sited in
the prime advertising space, the first two
pages - known
as
the opening double page spread. Each artist’s Artvert is published
in 22,000 copies of The Crack
(one monthly
issue).
The Crack is distributed throughout
the North-East of England at various venues
including galleries,
theatres,
shops,
pubs, cafes and newsagents.This
artist multiples project hopes to encourage artistic freedom and
concepts
in
a usually commercial space.
Artvert is also interested in discovering work that blurs, parodies
and challenges the
visual language
of advertising. Artvert
will run every month in The Crack magazine from March 2004 until
July 2006.
